About This Wine
It’s impossible to speak about Taylor Fladgate without superlatives. It’s one of the largest port wine houses in the world. It’s also one of the oldest, with more than three centuries of tradition. Most importantly, Taylor Vintage Port ranks among the most sought-after and expensive ports anywhere, with wine critic Robert Parker calling it “the Château Latour of vintage ports.”
The 2016 vintage reinforces why. It’s one of three incarnations to receive a perfect score among critics. In his review, James Suckling wrote, “OMG. This is really the most amazing young Taylor's I have ever tasted.” The red wine overflows with ripe layers of blackberries, raspberries, and black cherries that integrate seamlessly. A welcoming, tar-like edge complements the masculine structure and chiseled tannins, and racy acidity perfectly balances the sweetness. The only problem is that Taylor Fladgate only produced 6,500 cases in 2016, approximately half its normal output.
The Final Sip: The greatness of 2016 Taylor Vintage Port is on full display, with the 100-point rating to prove it.
