About This Wine
Château d’Yquem is the only estate with a superior first growth classification and with good reason. The hallowed château has perfected the art of “noble rot,” a botrytis-induced state that contributes to highly aromatic and acidic sauvignon blanc. It’s one of the reasons why a vertical of Château d’Yquem once sold for a staggering $1.5 million at auction.
The 2020 vintage features a blend of 75% sémillion and 25% sauvignon blanc. Harsh growing conditions resulted in yields one-third the size of the previous year, making the number of cases produced exceptionally small. In the glass, the white wine displays balletic grace with lively acids, elegant sweetness, and lush fruits. The 2020 Château d’Yquem is also highly expressive in its youth, making it appealing to wine experts and newcomers alike.
