Situated in Tain-l'Hermitage in the Northern Rhône, the estate has notched 40 perfect scores from Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate, the most of any winery. Le Pavillon alone is responsible for ten of those 100-point ratings.
The 2020 incarnation of this syrah has all the makings of a modern classic. It’s chiseled, balanced, and harmonious, with no shortage of aging potential. The granite influence permeates the medium to full body that’s already flush with cassis, raspberries, violets, wildflowers, and earthiness, and a pepper-tinged finish. With hospitable weather contributing to an excellent harvest, 2020 M. Chapoutier Ermitage Le Pavillon has a shot at immortality.
