Ornellaia belongs in the pantheon of great Italian wines. It’s revered in the same way as first growth Bordeaux and California’s cult cabs, consistently earning critic scores between 95 and 100. The 2020 vintage is no exception. Estate director Axel Heinz called it ‘a classic Ornellaia,’ with slightly less cabernet sauvignon than the previous release.
Meanwhile, Wine Advocate’s Monica Larner praised the effort as “a beauty, so generous and opulent with fully seamless transitions.” The red blend offers a sweeping expression of the terroir, balancing notes of fruit and oak in harmony.
